Delaware 'Bay Days' is an extraordinary two-day family festival celebrating the rich history, vibrant culture and phenomenal natural resources of the Delaware Bay.
To kick off the festival on Saturday, June 12th at 11am, there will be a traditional street parade through the historic village of Port Norris, NJ and down to the festival location in Bivalve, NJ along the Maurice River.
Once in Bivalve, sites are located within a convenient walking distance between each other offering live music and entertainment, multi-ethnic food, fresh seafood, children's activities, an oyster shucking contest (Saturday), blue crab races, A. J Meerwald boat tours, wetland walks, tours of New Jersey's tall ship, the schooner, A.J. MEERWALD, and more!
Sunday activities will take place at the Lake Audrey Wildlife and Watercraft Site from 1:00 4:30.
Join over 100 hundred volunteers from around the region who donate their time to make this event an overwhelming success.
Volunteers are needed before, during and after the event. Jobs include:
Setup
(Thursday and Friday)
Children's Activities
Parking
Signage
Blue Crab Races
Oyster Shucking Contest
Information Tables
Strawberry Shortcake Booth
Raw Bar (shucking and selling)
BDP Merchandise Table
Floaters (to provide volunteer breaks)
Teardown (Sunday after 4pm)
Volunteers may choose one or more six hour shifts as follows:
Saturday
9am to 3pm
12:30pm to 6:30pm
Sunday
1:00-4:30pm
Those volunteers who
donate a minimum of six-hours will receive a
FREE t-shirt!
If you are interested in helping out, we will need to know:
1. Your
name, address, phone number and email address (email is optional)
2. The type(s) of volunteer work you would prefer. (See list
of jobs above... or if you have other skills to offer, let us know!)
3. The day and shift (or shifts) you would like to work.
4. Your t-shirt size.
5. If you own a truck or van and would
like to pick up and deliver items
needed prior to the event, please mention
it and your availability.
All Bay Days volunteers will be asked to attend one volunteer orientation prior to the event. You will be contacted about orientation times when they are scheduled.
